Solana went on location with “America’s Most Wanted” host John Walsh for 2 days at the US-Mexico border. Interviews with Walsh were recorded on the tapeless Sony XDHD camera. The advantage of this camera is it allows the producer to immediately review scenes in color and quickly return to shooting.
Facing an early deadline we raced to the feed point and used the same feature to quickly play the important scenes and soundbites. The satellite feed took half the usual time and the editor quickly cut in just what she needed.
