  • Stars Shine at Film Fest

For the tenth year in a row, Solana Productions, Inc. was called on to capture the action at the Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.

Solana Productions, Inc., was front and center as Halle Berry, Bruce Willis, John Travolta, Jamie Foxx, Sean Penn, Drew Barrymore, Daniel-Day Lewis, Barry Manilow, Nikki Blonsky, Ellen Page, Allison Janney and other Hollywood stars descended on the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Shooting for TV's "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider," Solana's two-person camera crews were in prime positions to capture glamorous celebrity arrivals on the red carpet. The crews then headed backstage for "ET" host Mary Hart's exclusive one-on-one interviews with honorees.

At the event, Golden Globe nominees Travolta, Blonsky, Page and Janney confirmed that they would not be crossing Writer's Guild picket lines at the Globes ceremony, which has since been altered to a news conference format without red-carpet arrivals.

Solana's multiple crews erected elaborate lighting for two red-carpet positions and two backstage one-on-one interview areas. Solana staffers also recorded the live feed of the four-hour gala awards show.

Segments on the event were prominently featured on "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" on Monday, Jan. 7. Footage was also featured on the websites of both shows.

    Northwest News

Solana Productions NW was called by Comcast SportsNet to shoot player interviews and b-roll for the return of Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics to Seattle where they played each other for the first time since he left the Sonics last season.

SPNW was also called to shoot the post game interviews for NFL covering the Seattle Seahawks playoff game against the Washington Redskins.

SPNW also spent nine days shooting for Fox News Channel. Two days for the documentary unit out of New York, five days shooting various stories in and around the Seattle area for their Seattle bureau and another two days on a stakeout for the Bill O'Reilly Show.

    California on Fire!

Three Solana crews spent several days on the California wildfire.

This included news footage from the fireline and stories with homeowners sorting through the ashes of their homes.

Much of this footage was digitized, edited and uploaded immediately after the shoot. Footage was then available to news organizations to supplement their coverage.
