Semper Fi-ghting With "The Expendables"

Emmy Award Winning San Diego Video Production

It doesn't get more badass than this -- Sylvester Stallone and his tough-guy co-stars from "The Expendables" joining forces with the Marines at Camp Pendleton! This San Diego video production was actually the premiere of the new action movie, held at the 1,300-seat theater on the Marine base in Oceanside. Our San Diego video crew nabbed a TV exclusive for "Entertainment Tonight" as Stallone pulled up to a cheering crowd of Marines and their families in a Humvee. Also arriving in Humvees -- co-stars Terry Crews, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Randy Couture, a six-year military veteran. The crew stayed up close with the stars, grabbing tons of memorable moments as Stallone and the boys signed autographs, posed for pictures and high-fived Marines. Inside the theater, we rolled as "The Expendables" bolted down the carpet to thunderous applause and introduced their new film, which opens Aug. 13. Our footage aired on "ET" Monday, July 26, and was featured on the show's website, www.etonline.com.

Keeping Up With Kathy Griffin

July 18, 2010

Emmy Award Winning San Diego Video Production

We couldn't have asked for a better gig than covering Kathy Griffin's book-signing for "Entertainment Tonight!" From start to finish, this San Diego video production was one belly laugh after another as Kathy lamented the engagement of her "My Life on the D-List" boy-toy Levi Johnston, and had a field day with Mel Gibson's phone recordings. The energetic comedian popped into Border's Books with her mom Maggie Griffin to promote Maggie's new book, Tip It! -- and sign copies of her own best-seller, Official Book Club Selection. My San Diego video crew and I squeezed in with the crowd of about 300 that crammed the bookstore to see and hear Kathy in person. And she didn't disappoint -- signing and posing for every last person!

Solana Productions Swoops Into Sheryl Crow's
Home for Interview

LOS ANGELES – Solana Productions, Inc., videotaped an exclusive at-home interview with music superstar Sheryl Crow, in which she spoke candidly about her recovery from breast cancer, her breakup with cycling champion Lance Armstrong and her decision to adopt a baby.

"I think ultimately your biggest growth comes from actually being mad and actually experiencing disappointment, experiencing grief and sadness,” Crow said about being diagnosed with breast cancer the same week she and Armstrong ended their relationship. “I had to learn how to feel weak and vulnerable in order to feel my strength again."

An eight person crew from Solana Productions recorded the three-camera interview at Crow’s sprawling estate in the Hollywood Hills. The shoot involved an extensive lighting set-up, with a large crew, HMI lights and silks.

The interview with Crow was conducted by volleyball star/model Gabrielle Reece as part of Reece’s new on-line gal-pal network, “The HoneyLine.” The segment aired Nov. 6 on the Emmy-award-winning daytime program, “The Rachael Ray Show.”

Solana Productions, Inc., is a videotape production company based in Solana Beach, California, that serves a variety of high-profile broadcast, cable and corporate clients. More information about the company is available at www.solanaproductions.com.

The 46-year-old singer/songwriter told Reece she had to let go of her idea of having a "traditional" family to find happiness. "I had to say, OK, maybe waiting is keeping me from having what it is that I am yearning for, and so my choice was really to say, OK, I'm going to open up the door and create this space. And then all of a sudden the universe was throwing babies at me.”

Crow says she adopted her son, Wyatt, once her cancer treatments were complete. "There was a lot of cleaning and clearing and just getting healthy again and he waited until that moment to sort of say, 'I'm coming.'"

Asked about her love life, Crow said, “Typically I've always gone for someone who is a high achiever at what they do. There is a turn-on with that -- they're at the height of their game -- and they're committed to it but there are sacrifices that you are making with that."

Now, Sheryl says she’s more focused on finding someone who is her best friend and shares her parenting philosophies, and is hopeful she'll someday marry. "I believe that love is the greatest motivating emotion in life. It's either love or fear," Sheryl says. "I'd much rather be motivated by love."

After Crow was diagnosed with breast cancer, she received an unexpected phone call from Reece. "It's actually not like me because I don't like to impose myself but somehow I did have a good mutual friend with her and I felt compelled," says Gabby, who wanted to reach out to the singer with compassion and to suggest a holistic treatment -- even though they'd never met.

That kind of community and support system is what Gabby is trying to encourage with her new, online HoneyLine network. "If you plug into three or four great friends, they're like the bees on the honey line. You can always get to the honey, and I think all women really survive on this notion of a honey line because if you have three really great friends you can get some serious stuff done."
